Course Overview
Overall Goals
In this course participants will study an overview of the history of Christianity as well as the history of the Church of God of Prophecy. They will also become better acquainted with the Pentecostal distinctives the church embraces, its polity, financial structure, and the biblical foundations of our statement of faith. In every lesson, there are opportunities for participants to apply what they are learning to effectively minister to their congregations and communities.
Lessons
History of Christianity
This lesson provides an overview of the history of Christianity and its relevance in the development of doctrine. This lesson enables participants to recognize how Christian faith has been expressed through the centuries and to see the highlights and failures of the church over time. Awareness of the journey of the Christian church will help participants appreciate the patient work of God through human history, the fallibility of man at his best, and the unshakable goal God has for his kingdom to come on earth through the means of his body, the church.
The History of the Church of God of Prophecy
This lesson provides an overview of the history of the Church of God of Prophecy and highlights the experiences that have formed its ideology.
Pentecostal Distinctives of the Church of God of Prophecy
This lesson will describe the Pentecostal distinctives embraced by the Church of God of Prophecy and review other expressions of Pentecostalism. Students will learn the significance of these distinctives for the church today.
Church of God of Prophecy: Polity and Practice
This lesson will describe polity, practices, and governance of the Church of God of Prophecy. It will enable the students to develop an accurate understanding of polity, practices, and governance within the local church.
Financial Stewardship in the Church of God of Prophecy
This lesson will discuss the value of financial stewardship and adherence to the financial system of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Church of God of Prophecy: Statement of Faith Part 1
The lesson will introduce the Church of God of Prophecy Statement of Faith and discuss the biblical foundations for the truths therein. It will also provide guidance to participants as they apply these truths in life and ministry.
Church of God of Prophecy: Statement of Faith Part 2
This lesson will continue the discussion of the biblical foundations for the truths within the Church of God of Prophecy Statement of Faith. It will also provide guidance to participants as they apply these truths in life and ministry.
